The underground city is buried more than 85 meters (278 feet) below the Earth's surface, spanning 18 levels. For comparison, these dimensions correspond to almost a 30-story building. It is the largest underground city found so far in the world. It has been continuously inhabited for thousands of years and has an intricate network of tunnels, chambers, and levels that once housed up to 20,000 people, their livestock, and provisions.
